Sunny Side Up

Written: February 21, 2007

If I will direct you…you are not the motion picture I envision putting together. The screenplay is too wordy coupled by an exchange of lines that is so out of context to the movie title; the plot misleading; the musical scoring out of tune; the cinematography completely off view; the direction an overkill of disappointment. Perhaps, the camera missed to capture the more compelling acts before you shouted for a cut, better yet you shouted for a cut too soon.

It was like when I watched Music and Lyrics starring Drew Barrymore and Hugh Grant on the love month, with high hopes since its movie ad made its trailer look all that appealing and seem like a MUST-SEE, and then just lose it in one big FLOP between your oversized Taters sour cream popcorn and upsized Coca Cola.

Damn, you told me it was going to be a blockbuster…it didn’t even make the preview! I will settle for FIFTY FIRST DATES and FOUR WEDDINGS AND A FUNERAL, for the leads in the movie aforementioned.

Till now I couldn’t figure…or figure what to figure. So I ask Nelson, after having instantly caught him from my central view, “Is it just me or is it really cold in here?” Judging from what Nelson would have responded to me, taking it from the way he squinted after catching my eye, “It is cold. It is only now you notice with everybody else. It is only now when you actually didn’t put on your usual jacket.”

Uh-huh. Agree.

Okay so maybe I may have arrived at the terminal too early and was a willing victim to the hours until the ship arrived, but maybe I may have lingered on the thought, “Patience is Virtue”, too eager to wait and failing to realize that waiting entailed doing something in between to make waiting worth it.

So I just literally waited. It is enough to say, any ordinary person now reading this article will not have to read between the lines to understand that I am declaring how I have become stupid and relaxed in the dance number performed before me, thinking it was the tango to which I enjoy seeing only to find out the rendition began with a waltz and ended with a waltz. I can’t believe I actually came up to the couple and said, “That was just great!” That was why it suddenly felt in that moment as if my brain ran out from the ballroom…screaming!

It leaves me now to think that, yes; every one of us owns our own kitchen. That in thought, I am now going to make it a point to cook my own meals, so that I can stir the pasta to a sauce I prefer and all that I consume will not just go to waste. So I will drink to my delight. So my egg is done the way I want.

I want it Sunny Side UP.
Not scrambled.
Not poached.
…with conviction, determination and a DEADLINE!
